ut9.cc · URL Shortener

Privacy Policy

Last updated:

URL Shortener is a Chrome extension offered by chetth (Chet Printhong). It uses the ut9.cc API to shorten the current page’s URL for sharing. This policy explains how information is handled when you use that shortening function or visit a ut9.cc short link.

1. URLs used for shortening

When you use the shortening function, the current page’s URL is sent to ut9.cc. The service stores the submitted URL together with a short-link code so that it can return a shortened link and redirect visitors to the original address. An existing code may be reused for a URL that has already been shortened. Creating or opening a short link does not require an account.

Submitted URLs can include query parameters, personal information, private document identifiers, or access tokens. Check the address before shortening it and avoid submitting sensitive links. Anyone with the short link can open it and discover its destination; a short link is not a password or access control.

2. Request information and logs

Our servers and network providers process connection information when you make a request. The service records access logs for visits to short links. These logs can include the connecting IP address, request time, requested address, response status, referring page, and browser or user-agent information. When traffic passes through a proxy, the connecting address recorded by the server may be the proxy’s address.

Error logs and security-event logs may also record request details, including IP addresses, URLs, headers, and relevant request content. Because the URL to be shortened is part of the API request, it may appear in these logs. This information supports operation, troubleshooting, and protection against abuse.

3. How information is used and shared

Submitted URLs are used to create and resolve short links. Request information is used to operate and protect the service. We do not use or transfer user data for purposes unrelated to the extension’s core function, or to determine creditworthiness or support lending decisions. We do not sell user data outside the exceptions permitted by Chrome Web Store policy.

The service runs on hosted server infrastructure and uses Cloudflare to handle web traffic and help protect the service. Hosting and network providers process information necessary to deliver these services. Cloudflare may process IP addresses, requested URLs, and other connection or security information; see Cloudflare’s Privacy Policy.

Opening a short link sends your browser to the destination website. That website receives your visit and handles information under its own privacy policy.

4. Storage, retention, and deletion requests

Original URLs and their short-link mappings are stored on the service’s server. The shortening service does not assign them an automatic expiry date, so they can remain stored until removed. Server access and security logs are also stored; this policy does not specify a fixed deletion interval for those logs.

There is no self-service deletion feature. To request removal of a short link or ask about information relating to you, contact the developer below and include the short-link address. We may need additional information to verify and locate the relevant record. Removing a mapping stops that link from resolving through ut9.cc, but does not remove copies already shared or cached, or information held by the destination website.
